Teodocia is Pedro’s younger sister and a respected member of the extended Castro family of coffee growers. Teodosia and her extended family migrated from the Bolivan Altiplano (High Plateau) in the Pacajes province towards the coffee growing region of Yungas to start a new life as coffee farmers. They eventually settled in Colonia Siete Estrellas, Chijchipani County, Caranavi Province, Bolivia. Her farm is 10 hectares (about 25 acres), 3.0 hectares are dedicated to coffee production. She grows both Typica (Criollo), 70% and Caturra, 30% coffee varietals. Her farm is situated at over 5,900 feet above sea level. Teodocia (born 1976) is married to Crispin (born 1971), they have three children, Henry, Karina and a new baby. She has been producing excellent coffee, but never participated in any competition. However, she finished fifth (among over 100 participants) at Invalsa’s 2011 Annual Sourcing Trip. The Cooperative that previously purchased her coffee (Union Proagro) blended it with others; as a result her coffee was never differentiated. During the last two years, she has sold all her coffee directly to Invalsa and not blend it with any other. We wholeheartely support her new marketing efforts! Our head cupper scored this microlot with a Cupping Score of 88.9. Cupping Comments are as follows: Aroma/flavor: Sweet, herbal, lemon, floral, very clean, honey, chocolate, maracuya (passion fruit). Acidity: Crisp, transparent, grape-like, citric. Other atributes: Creamy body, buttery, well balanced.
